This is the official language learning app of the Michel Thomas method, where you will find free language lessons, course booklets, and beginner, intermediate and advanced audio courses in many languages.
Learning languages using the Michel Thomas method is very different from learning with a dictionary or a phrasebook. You won’t need to memorize lists of words and sentences. Instead, you will learn how to use the words to express yourself, in the same way you would if you were speaking your own language.
How do the courses work?
Our courses are based on the idea that all languages are broken down into a small number of essential components, called ‘building blocks’. The building blocks are then introduced to the learner sequentially in such a way that the learner reconstructs the language for himself – to form his own sentences, to say what he wants, when he wants. This makes learning much easier and more effective. The learner will learn at his own pace, pausing and repeating where necessary. The building blocks are introduced in a way that makes the learner feel comfortable and enthusiastic about the course.
Learning a language is therefore a very natural process for the brain.
